Rules & Expectations
All students are expected to follow the classroom rules and expectations from the moment they enter the room until the time they are dismissed. If a student fails to follow these expectations at any time they will be addressed and based on the severity of the condition:
WARNING: 3 warnings give the student opportunities to redirect behavior and engage in classroom activities (warnings act as strikes, 3 and your out). Any student demonstrating behavior or actions that are dangerous to themselves and the class will immediately sit out.
A student receives a warning when their behavior is disruptive to the learning environment. After 3 warnings the student is required to sit out to ensure the learning and safety of the entire class during movement activities. The teacher will meet with the student to discuss actions and set goals to improve their behavior in the future (students will complete a behavior sheet during this time to reflect on).
HOME: behavior that is frequently disruptive to the learning environment and impacting daily instructions, class learning, safety, and performance will requires a call home to discuss concerns and to set positive goals moving forward.
DETENTION: community service before or after school, during lunch,
REFERRAL: Student has received warnings, refuses to follow instructions, is continuously disrupting the teacher and other students, has demonstrated actions that require immediate administrative attention.
In this case the student has been given the opportunity to change their behavior and refuses to make positive changes, or the student has demonstrated inappropriate behavior/actions that demand administrative attention.
